I’m so excited to share our wedding photos & short highlight video. 2/27/16 was perfect. I didn’t have my blog when we were married, so it’s fun to relive this day and share it with each of you. I’ve included all our vendors and details below to spark inspiration for any newly engaged ladies.
Our wedding was black tie; I wanted it to be fancy! Caleb loves wearing a tux, and I love a chance to get all dressed up and wanted our guest to feel fabulous! Another big thing about our wedding is that we did a “first look.” We had it where I walked down the aisle as I would in the ceremony cause I wanted him to see the dramatics of my train on the dress. It was just Caleb and I in the church sharing this special moment before the wedding craziness. I am SO HAPPY we did the first look. They are my favorite photos from the day, and it helped calm our nerves to see each other before. Caleb isn’t usually a “crier” but he was a mess all day, it was so sweet seeing how emotional the day was for him. We were able to relax and talk, and then a driver took us back to my parent’s house (right down the street) to reunite with our wedding party for pictures. The bonus of the first look- we were able to take all our photos with family and the wedding party before the ceremony. I knew I wanted to get straight to the reception and enjoy our cocktail hour with everyone instead of taking more photos. This was the best decision, and I never regret our first look.
Our wedding colors were simple whites with touches of pink and Navy details such as Caleb’s tux and our invitations. We married at the Methodist church in Celina, Texas. Celina is where we both grew up; we are high school sweethearts. Our reception was at my parent’s ranch in Celina. We had a tent built, and it overlooked my parent’s pond- it was beautiful. My wedding planner, Todd Events, did an incredible job with every little detail.
One of our favorite parts of the reception was having late night What-A-Burger. This is Caleb’s favorite fast food that he practically lived on during college. We had shirts made that said “What-A-Wedding” that they wore to pass out the burgers and fries. I was pretty proud of myself for thinking of that saying haha.
We ended the wedding with fireworks on the patio that overlooked my parent’s pond — the best ending to a perfect night. For our departure, we had donut holes and coffee to go. Caleb and I honeymooned in Europe which happened to be Caleb’s first time abroad! We did three nights at each location- Paris, Florence, Tuscany, and Rome. It was AMAZING. We ate all the pasta and drank all the red wine. Curious, would you all be interested in a little travel guide from our honeymoon of all our favorite restaurants and things we did? If so, please leave a comment, and I’ll make a honeymoon post!
For my dress, I KNEW I wanted a Berta dress. I had seen these dresses on the internet, and their designs are so my style. I’ve never been into poufy dresses, I have a sporty body and big booty so fitted looks best on me IMO (and Caleb’s haha.) I worked hard in the gym during our engagement, and I wanted to show that off in my dress. Berta is only sold at Bridal Boutique in Lewisville in the Dallas area, so I made my first dress appointment there. It was one of the first dresses I tried on, well it’s actually not a dress… it’s a skirt and a onesie. The lace top is a bodysuit, and the skirt with the gold belt attached is a skirt. It was SO comfortable and super stretchy. I think all the Berta dresses are designed like this for the most part so just an FYI if this is your interested in this designer.
Our wedding was featured in D Wedding magazine. Here is the link if you’d like to check out that article which tells a little more of our love story!
My #1 advice for your big day- enjoy every moment and don’t spend half your night saying hello to people. I know that sounds odd, but I find some brides spend a lot of time saying hello to extended family. In my opinion, your guests can find you on the dance floor if they want to say hello and congrats. This is YOUR wedding, and it goes by in the blink of an eye. You spend all that time planning, and you should be celebrating with your husband all night long. Caleb and I drank and spent almost every moment on the dance floor with friends. It’s your party. Enjoy it! 🙂

I wore my sister’s white cowgirl boots from her wedding for our reception! So special and was one of my “Something Borrowed.”
We had mugs made for while us girls got ready at my parent’s house.
Me, my mom, sister, and niece all wore furs for the departure of our reception!
I had these PJ sets made as my gift to my bridesmaids. I had them embroidered with their initials in a navy blue.
My hair and makeup artist was the absolute best and such a joy to be around.
My sister’s dress was different than the other bridesmaids!
I didn’t show any of my bridesmaids my wedding dress until the big day! I love all the photos from their reaction.
The train you see on my dress didn’t come with it. I bought that separately from Bridal Boutique in Lewisville. It attached with clips, so I only wore that during the ceremony for a more dramatic look.
Caleb’s reaction when he saw me during our first look
Still cried like a baby when I walked down the aisle even though we had already done the first look — something so special about that moment.
The hay bales may seem weird, but they were so special. My dad is known as “Hay Man” in Celina. He puts out painted hay bales for the football team before games, so we wanted to play on that since we were in Celina. It was such a fun, personal touch!
We had a big tree with everyone’s names and table attached. You had to find your name on the tree and cut down your name tag. It was stunning!
This front room was where we had the cocktail hour. The white sheets were closed, and we didn’t open them until after the cocktail hour. It was a fun surprise for everyone to see the reception area!
We added framed photos of us behind the bars! My wedding planner thought of all the small, romantic details.
Bride and Groom cake. Yes, that is a giant cake of Caleb in his OSU football uniform haha! Fancy Cakes By Lauren is unbelievable.
We had one super long table in the middle for our wedding party!
INTRODUCING MR. AND MRS. LAVEY!!!
Shamelessly NOMING on a burger!
We ended the night with fireworks on the patio overlooking my parent’s beautiful pond. 2/27/16 is a day I will never forget and always cherish!
