Bulletproof Matcha Latte

A Matcha Latte is not your average coffee or espresso drink – in fact, it doesn’t contain any coffee at all.  Matcha gives you energy, but not that instant, sometimes jittery feeling that coffee can give us.  Instead, it’s a more sustained sense of energy throughout the day. Matcha also has loads of nutritional benefits that coffee definitely does not.  Don’t get me wrong, I love a good cup of joe, but I really do enjoy changing it up and making a morning matcha latte every so often.

Needing even more of an energy boost? That’s where the “bulletproof” part of the equation comes in. To make your matcha latte a bulletproof one, add ghee (clarified butter) and/or brain octane oil for even more steady, lasting energy on those days you need to get s**t done!

Note: Brain octane oil is powerful stuff.  I suggest starting with 1 teaspoon until you are used to it.  Then, if you’d like, you can build yourself up to 1 tablespoon.

Some people drink bulletproof coffees/matcha lattes as a morning meal replacement because of the added fats from the ghee. The MCT/Brain octane oil also suppresses your hunger hormones, keeping you full longer. You are getting all those healthy fats to use as fuel!  So technically, you could drink this as your breakfast. But personally, I need a legit meal in the morning.  This girl loves to eat!!  I will usually have mine first thing in the morning and then have an actual breakfast 30 minutes to an hour later. Matcha has so much flavor that I usually don’t like it in combination with a meal, so I’ll either drink mine before or after eating a more substantial breakfast!

I usually prefer making bulletproof matchas on days I am working out.  It gives me the mental clarity, sustained energy and healthy fats that my body loves to fuel up before a morning workout!  In these instances, I’ll save my heartier breakfast for after my workout and head to the gym only having had my matcha drink.

Bulletproof Matcha Latte

Easy and energizing bulletproof matcha

Nutrition per portion

  • 1 scoop Vital Proteins Collagen Matcha or 1 tsp. of regular matcha
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1 scoop Vital Proteins Collagen
  • 1 tbsp. organic coconut butter (I love Artisana Organics brand)
  • 1 tsp. MCT/Brain Octane oil
  • 1/3 cup almond milk *optional-warm on stovetop before
  • drizzle raw honey
  • a few shakes of cinnamon
  1. First, add matcha to blender
  2. Add your hot water
  3. Add remaining ingredient except cinnamon to blender. Blend for 1 minute.
  4. Top with a shake or two of cinnamon. Enjoy!
*could add adaptogens of choice!  I usually just add a max of 1 tsp. of 1 or 2 adaptogens.  My favorite is maca!
